Somewhere FM is live radio from all over the world, on a globe you turn. Write to hello@somewherefm.app and a person will answer.
How to listen
- Drag the globe to travel. Stations fade in and out as you pass them, like turning a dial.
- Turn with two fingers where several stations share a place, to hear the others.
- Somewhere takes you to a random station on air right now.
- Keep saves the moment. Your kept places and passport stamps are under Passport.
- Follow the hour travels with the time of day, and Sleep fades the radio out.
When a station is silent
Stations are run by their broadcasters, and some go quiet, change address or stop overnight. The app notices a silent station and walks you on to the next one. We check every station each night and take away the ones that no longer answer.
Using mobile data
Live radio uses roughly 30 to 60 MB an hour, depending on the station. While you are exploring, the app also prepares nearby stations so they fade in without a gap; when you stop touching the globe, or lock your phone, it keeps only the station you are hearing. Pausing for more than twenty seconds closes the stream completely.
For broadcasters
Somewhere FM plays public streams the way a browser does, credits each station by name and never adds or removes anything from your broadcast. If you would like your station listed differently, or taken out of the app, write to hello@somewherefm.app from an address at your station, and we will act on it within a few days.
